Last weekend we went to France with the intention of camping. A  previous visit looked like this...
However the rain-gods conspired against us, and instead we went here:
but there was no room at the inn. Then we went here:
only to find it was full of Belgian wrinklies......
Right, next stop, La Bretagne, point of last resort....

....and we got a room!

Dried off, we headed for La Brasserie Audomaroise, as you do when in St.Omer...

.... they make nice beer...

I am reliably informed by Burnley Dave that there is not much point in posting this picture.
Greedy swine had 5 pints. Ah well, we'll just have to get some more....

It went on this evening to replace Brewers Gold, which lasted 16 hours over 2 days, ho-hum.

Dark Star
Crouch Vale

You couldn't put a cigarette paper between the two of them on taste, quality, colour, perfectness....
Two of the best beers brewed in Britain. (IMHO)

Milds for May

Well, the Milds for May have been quite a success. 5, 6 and 7 were on today, with more coming next week.
Martin the Mildman was in last night and commented on Scoopgen that he had found 16 milds in Central London
last night. We had 3 and the Wenlock had 4, so 7 milds within 5 minutes walk/stagger....

Mild as it should be....

This was on from Monday 'til this evening. Just before I left I checked the contents: it won't be there in the morning.
It's best before date was last Friday (08-05-09), and it was probably, no, definitely the best Black Cat I've had.
Burnley Dave was in agreement. I don't know whether this was luck or whether Black Cat, like Marstons Pedigree, needs more
time in the cellar, but it was pure drinking pleasure. There's a tub downstairs at the moment.....hmmmm..

Cherry beer from L'Audomaroise Brewery.

The brasserie in St Omer has been brewing since September 2001.
They brew a blonde and an ambree which they then flavour.
Cherry is the latest addition. Rhubarb and chicory are normally available.
